If you’re coming to Bali to find some culture, then you have to catch a coming-of-age ritual where bare-breasted local village boys partake in friendly duels with each other. Called the Perang Pandan War Dance or “Mekare-Kare” this event takes place annually around this time of the year in the village of Tenganan in East Bali and it’s something you really don’t want to miss! Other cultural events to take note of are the Bali Kite Festival in Sanur and the Mekepung Buffalo Races in West Bali. Do check out our Don’t Miss page for more cultural events happening this month.

And while you’re at it, do have a look at our Review pages; you’ll find an interesting African safari escape right in the heart of Bali at Bali Safari and Marine Park. One of our favourite private estates and villas, Kayumanis Jimbaran, is opening a new restaurant soon featuring authentic Indonesian and Balinese delicacies. Since we’re on the subject of food, this month’s issue is full of it! We’ve got one of Legian’s classic favourites, Kori Restaurant & Catering and Ryoshi House of Jazz for Japanese. And Chinese? Yes, we’ve got Happy Chappy Chinese with a new and exciting announcement.

Not to be outdone, Courtyard by Marriott Bali Seminyak also recently just launched their amazingly successful VW Combi Foodtruck, “What The Truck!” and they want you to know all about it. Beauty is a topic that can never be forgotten, and this month, Ultimo Aesthetics & Dental Care is having a July promotion with great discounts on a variety of treatments. So don’t miss out on anything, there are always great deals and promotions around to help you maximize your holiday in Bali, as you can see in our What’s New and Hot Deals page.

It’s the start of the windy season and although these are usually Bali’s dry months, heavy rainfalls have been observed around the evenings and nights. Regardless, Bali is always fun, wet or dry. Till next time, Om Swastiastu and welcome to Bali!
